    Hi All,

    It’s been a while. I took a break from well…everything to be honest. Anyway here I am and I hope you are all well.

    I have a question regarding nodebb and external links. Is it possible to make all external links open in a new window by default? Pretty sure it’s not in the settings. A lot has chnaged since I last played around with it.

    @Sampo2910 welcome back! Hope you’re well?

    It’s certainly possible to open links in a new window. It’s in the markdown settings as below

    Perfect and thank you.

    Yes not too bad. A few issues with the ticker (more of a scare) but reporting back for duty haha. All good. Working at sea and so I am not about a smuch as I would like to be. Have to earn the pennies.

    @phenomlab Yes, all good. Had all the tests and now back at it. Had some stress tests on the bike, running whilst all wired up like Steve Austin 🙂 All turned out well.

    Just one of them things, but sure makes you appreciate what you have.

    Just to add there is a plugin there to activate called link preview. It works ok but with that the links do not open up in a new tab/window. Other links are ok but not with that plugin 😞

    @Sampo2910 search the forum here for ogproxy which is the client side version of that plugin I wrote.

    It’s in use here on this forum.

    @cagatay The most reliable way to upgrade Node.js on Ubuntu depends on how you originally installed it. Method 1: Using NVM (Recommended) If you already use Node Version Manager (NVM), upgrading is simple. NVM allows you to keep both versions and switch between them if needed. Install Node 22: nvm install 22 Switch to Node 22: nvm use 22 Set it as your default: nvm alias default 22 Verify the change: node -v Method 2: Using NodeSource (PPA) If you installed Node.js via apt using the NodeSource repository, you need to update the repository script to point to the new version. Remove the old NodeSource list (optional but cleaner): sudo rm /etc/apt/sources.list.d/nodesource.list Download and run the NodeSource setup script for Node 22: curl -fsSL [https://deb.nodesource.com/setup_22.x](https://deb.nodesource.com/setup_22.x) | sudo -E bash - Install/Upgrade Node.js: sudo apt-get install -y nodejs Verify the installation: node -v Method 3: Using the ‘n’ Package If you have npm installed, you can use the n interactive manager. It is actually a page in it’s own right and leverages nodebb-plugin-custom-pages. This in turn creates a new “route” which behaves like a page, meaning it is then exposed for widgets. @Panda said in Interesting Widget code, but can’t fetch API: Also can you explain more what you mean by calling the code externally. In my API call example, how would I go about doing that? By this, I mean create all the required code in an external JS file that is reachable by the NodeBB instance - so, in “public” for example - or in my case /public/js. The widget then “calls” that file and because it runs outside of the scope of NodeBB, you just need to return the values to the widget. Hope this makes sense?

    @phenomlab Thx again for the reply. Well I am sure that it will be well worth the wait. I will watch with anticipation. For now it is OK. Just small minor irritations I fell in a lot of NodeBB ‘default’ things.

    @pobojmoks Do you see any errors being reported in the console ? At first guess (without seeing the actual code or the site itself), I’d say that this is AJAX callback related
