Proton launch password manager

Proton have launched a password manager if anyone is interested.
It’s only launched today, so I’ve began testing… So far so good.

@phenomlab I think I’m paying around £10.99 for the month.
This includes VPN, Drive (50gb of storage), Mail, Calender and now pass manager.

@JAC That’s pretty reasonable actually. I’m using Bitwarden myself, which is around $10/year.

@JAC That’s pretty reasonable actually. I’m using Bitwarden myself, which is around $10/year.

.I guess all are similar but I do trust Proton so I’m happy to use their suite of products, it appears to be developing all the time. -
And bitwarden can be self hosted
I’m now on KeepassXC bcause it’s free and without cloud account.

Yes, looks good (albeit a little on the basic side, but who needs bells and whistles for password management?)

I use proton pass and actually purchased the whole suite and am slowly getting my emails switched over. Their vpn works great as well. I like how they have their clients for each application so you don’t have to go to the web browser every time. Especially for email and such.

@Madchatthew I too have continued to use their suite of products, they are developing them all the time and listening the customers feedback and acting on it which is refreshing to see.
Can’t say I’ve ever had any major issues with them, definitely recommend!

@Madchatthew @JAC I have to be honest, I’ve been looking at their product suite also, although as I have multiple domains, it works out a bit expensive overall - ideally, I’d want the below package because even the Mail Plus offering is too restricted.

@Madchatthew I too have continued to use their suite of products, they are developing them all the time and listening the customers feedback and acting on it which is refreshing to see.
Can’t say I’ve ever had any major issues with them, definitely recommend!

@phenomlab that is the plan I chose. I am not sure how much it costs for additional web domains though. I don’t have a lot, but I can imagine the more you have the more money it will cost. I like with the email, they have it build in where you can create a fake email address and have it go to your real email, but your real email is protected and if you start getting spam you can delete that fake email and boom -> no more spam from that site.

Whilst I have several domains, and it would be nice to protect them all in the same way, I think perhaps I’d only target the obvious ones (such as sudonix.org and probably phenomlab.com) that I use constantly. I am tempted. I like the product very much and having worked for a Swiss firm in the 90’s -> early 2000’s, I can certainly agree that their take on privacy is unparalleled.

@phenomlab That is one of the reasons I decided to switch to Proton. After doing a bunch of research and their take on privacy, it really appealed to me. Especially in this day and age where it seems like everyone and their mother and grandmother are trying to get at your information and companies like MS, Apple, Google and many others are just basically gathering your information and making money off of you.
Another thing I like about the Proton company is that they will adjust their pricing and features that are free based on how much money has been generated throughs subscriptions and donations.

@phenomlab I had NordVPN and it worked great. I just switched to proton because it is a part of their software suite and included in the unlimited package and such.

@phenomlab I do. It comes with extras for each of the apps. It would be nice if the proton drive space was more, but it is better than nothing.

@Madchatthew I upgraded to the family plan, the Wife is using it too, I think it’s 500gb of space and you can up it / share it across 6 members.

@JAC Yeah I thought about doing the family plan, but I don’t think my wife would want to switch everything over. So for now I just did it for me.
