@phenomlab I am using bitwarden as well. I haven’t purchased the upgrade, but am thinking about it. It doesn’t bother me to have to open the bitwarden authentication app separately since i am used to doing that.

The real issue here is that most people consider forums to be ā€œdeadā€ in the sense that nobody uses them anymore, and social media groups have taken their place. Their once dominant stance in the 90’s and early 00’s will never be experienced again, but having said that, there are a number of forums that did in fact survive the social media onslaught, and still enjoy a large user base. Forums tend to be niche. One that immediately sticks out is Reddit - despite looking like it was designed in the 80s, it still has an enormous user base. Another is Stack Overflow, which needs no introduction. The key to any forum is the content it offers, and the more people whom contribute in terms of posting , the more popular and widely respected it becomes as a reliable source of information. Forums are still intensely popular with gamers, alongside those that offer tips on hacking etc.

@kurulumu-net But when the search feature works, the CPU immediately swells to 100% and the site dies. That sounds very much like a MySQL issue to me. I’m aware that this is an existing issue in Flarum in relation to performance, and clearly, it’s still not fixed. I had no idea that the NodeBB migration could be this expensive. Terrible Yes, exactly that. To me, it would appear that I’d need to finance the development and subsequent build of any package, then they could resell the same thing to someone else without the need for any additional effort on their part = high profit margin. The issue I have with this model is that I’d foot the (somewhat huge) bill for what amounts to a minor upgrade for me, but quite the money spinner for NodeBB. Here the link to that thread https://community.nodebb.org/post/84581
